    Word of Judgment

The term, Word of Judgment (Greek: logeion ton kriseon), is what the Greek Septuagint calls the jeweled gold cloth that the IsraElite High Priest wore on his chest. It had twelve different types of gems, each of which had the name of one of the sons of Jacob (or IsraEl) engraved upon it.

Interestingly, the names were those of the Sons of IsraEl rather than the names of the twelve tribes. This means that the name ‘JoSeph’ would be used instead of the names of his two sons Ephraim and Manasseh. That way, the Priestly tribe of Levi (not usually mentioned among the other tribes) would have had its own stone.
